Paris Attack Is Exactly Why I've Been Calling for a Stop to Obama’s Syrian Refugee Plan
 - Babin Leads Effort to Defund and Block Administration's Refugee Program -

As most of you know, I've been sounding the alarm on our broken refugee program since July when I introduced the Resettlement Accountability National Security Act (H.R. 3314), which would place an immediate moratorium on all new refugee resettlements in the U.S. pending Congressional approval and a thorough review of its economic and national security risks.
In light of the Paris terrorist attack, I've also begun circulating a letter to Speaker Ryan and Appropriations Chairman Rogers asking that there be a provision included in the year-end bill to fully defund and prevent new refugee resettlements. The letter, which is consistent with my bill H.R. 3314, has secured 72 co-signers since first being circulated on Monday.
House Sends Crucial Commercial Space Bill to President’s Desk
On Monday, the House passed with my support H.R. 2262, the U.S. Commercial Space Launch Competitiveness Act. As the House Space Subcommittee Chairman, I was proud to support this bipartisan, bicameral legislation, which creates a much-needed framework that will attract private investment in space and secure American leadership in commercial space endeavors. H.R. 2262 creates more stable regulatory conditions and improves safety, which in turn attracts private investment and secures American leadership in space.
House Passes Bill to Strengthen Vetting Process for Refugees
- Babin Urges Further Action on His Efforts to Immediately Stop Obama’s Refugee Plan -
This past week I joined a bipartisan, veto-proof majority, in passing H.R. 4038, which requires the heads of the FBI, DHS and DNI to personally certify the background investigation of each refugee coming into the U.S. While this bill is not as strong as I wanted it to be, it does place new restrictions on the President and is certainly better than current law.
Nonetheless, I believe we must do more and have a sworn duty to do so. I’ll continue fighting for an immediate moratorium on Obama's reckless refugee program, and we need to use the upcoming spending bill to defund this madness. A clear, strong majority of the American people want a pause in this refugee program. They’ve seen what happened in Paris and they are rightfully concerned. I will not stop this fight – and in my mind it has only begun. I’d also add that nothing stops us from continuing to provide basic humanitarian aid to them right there by their homeland. We continue doing that while putting the safety and security of the American people first.

I recently had the privilege of speaking to the Bay Area Houston Transportation Partnership and providing the group with a congressional update on some of the important initiatives I've been working to support the Houston area and the local economy.
Had a very productive meeting and discussion with our Pastors Council about the issues important to our faith based communities.
