Dear Friend, Each New Year brings new opportunities – and I am very excited about 2017 and what lies ahead. With the election of Donald J. Trump, we can finally turn the page on President Obama’s failed policies and change the direction of this great nation. Having just finished my first term in Congress, I look forward to working closely with an Administration that will start putting the concerns, safety and well-being of the American people first. For far too long, Washington elites have pushed an agenda driven more by political correctness than what is in the best interest of the average American citizen. I’m hopeful that will soon change under President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence who will be sworn into office on January 20, 2017.
In my first term, I am proud to have championed conservative legislation and blocked many harmful Obama initiatives, as well as provided quality constituent services and always been accessible to the good folks of Texas’ 36th Congressional District. And now that we have a Republican President and a Republican Congress, I want to build upon this success and help lead the charge in 2017 to make our nation and communities a better place. In the coming days, months and years, we have the unique opportunity to implement a bold, new conservative agenda – including repealing Obamacare, securing our borders, rebuilding our military, and reining in government spending and bureaucracy. We have lots of work to do and I feel certain that the special interests are already lining up to oppose our agenda for a stronger America. I commend President-elect Trump and his team for already hitting the ground running. They have put together a talented and respected cabinet that will help grow our economy and bring positive change to America. In Congress, I look forward to being a reliable and tireless partner in these efforts to help advance our shared vision of a stronger, more secure America. As your representative in Congress, it is my commitment to you that I will always fight for our common sense conservative Texas values. I work for you – and I will never forget that.
