Dear Friend,

Please be aware that the deadline to apply for FEMA flood assistance is fast approaching.

Residents of Orange, Newton and Jasper Counties who suffered damage from the March flooding have until Wednesday, May 18, to register for FEMA assistance.

To register, you can go online at DisasterAssistance.gov or call 800-621-3362 (FEMA). The toll-free lines are open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. local time, seven days a week.

Flood victims can also visit the Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) at the Deweyville Senior Center (43432 State Hwy 87). Representatives from the state, FEMA, SBA and other agencies at the centers can provide guidance regarding disaster recovery and rental resources.

Hours of operation are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday -- and closed on Sunday.

If you run into any difficulties, please do not hesitate to call our Orange office at 409-883-8075.

Thank you and God Bless,

Brian Babin
