Babin Demands Appointment of Special Prosecutor to Investigate Clinton Foundation
I joined 50 of my colleagues this week in sending a letter to U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch demanding that a special prosecutor be appointed to investigate the Clinton Foundation for “pay to play” tactics that allowed its donors special access and influence over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Our request, which was spearheaded by U.S. Rep. John Ratcliffe (TX-4), points out that a recent report by the Associated Press has revealed that a majority of the people who Hillary Clinton met with as Secretary of State were donors to the Clinton Foundation.

All of this makes it very unclear where the State Department ended and where the Clinton Foundation began. Americans have by and large lost faith in their government and rightfully so. The facts as they have been reported surrounding the Clinton Foundation warrant an investigation that is beyond reproach and beyond any appearance of political favoritism. Appointing a special counsel is a necessary step at this juncture.
Woodville Veterans Town Hall Meeting
Our office, along with a team of experts, hosted a Veterans Town Hall meeting in Woodville, Texas on Tuesday to help assist local veterans with their claims and answer any question they may be having with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Thank you to everyone who came out for this important discussion and took time to help ensure our veterans get the answers and assistance they have undoubtedly earned and deserve. As a former guardsman and Air Force officer and as the father of a decorated Navy SEAL with multiple deployments to Iraq, this is very personal to me and the many veterans we know and talk to. We need to make sure the interests of veterans are put ahead of everything else. If you need assistance or know anyone who does, please do not hesitate to contact our office.

Statement on SpaceX Incident
On Thursday, at Cape Canaveral in Florida, there was an explosion of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket as it was fuel-loading before an unmanned launch this weekend of an Israeli satellite. This unfortunate incident is a reminder that the business of space flight is tremendously challenging. Thankfully, there was no loss of life or any injuries. While it is a setback, I have no doubt that the commercial spaceflight industry will quickly recover and America will continue as the world’s space leader. I wish SpaceX all the best in their recovery efforts.
Honoring Deweyville ISD
I was proud and privileged to present Principal Brad Haeggquist and Superintendent Kevin Clark of Deweyville ISD with a flag flown over the United States Capitol to commemorate the school district’s courage and resilience in the aftermath of the March 2016 floods.
Snap-shots from Texas 36
Roxanne and I had a wonderful time touring the Champion Oaks Ranch Children's Home in Jasper, Texas and learning more about the special work they do in rebuilding families and providing a loving and stable Christian home for children who have faced difficult circumstances in life.
Enjoyed visiting the WestRock Paper Mill in Evadale, Texas to learn more about the plant. As a career dentist, I was pleased to find out that carton paper for products like toothpaste and dental floss were being produced right here in Southeast Texas.
